Sue- Did you ever contact the sewing machine repair guy back to see if he had any feedback on what the problem might be? It seems awfully coincidental that your machine would not function after the timing maintenance if it was working fine before. Especially if you plugged it back into the exact same computer, with the same cable, etc. This is a weird problem.
